don't know what he G1 is, but i've got myself a nokia E90 communicator. i'm not a 'business' man but can say it's the best phone i've ever had.
got it just before the Iphone was released here. might have got one of them, but i think it's more sales gimmick that makes the iphone to be 'so good'

Depends what you're gonna do with it. The Nokia 5800 XPressMusic phone has just been released if you are into music and is cheaper than the iPhone. The Nokia E71 is great if you are a business user. The G1 is a good option too, even though it does look like it was designed in the 90's! I'd steer clear of Blackberrys.

My contract is up at the end of the year and I'm hoping a new iPhone or credible rival to it is out by then...

N95 8Gb good phone, but too flawed..
signed symbian apps
camera good
gps poor. didnt work..
The replacement Omnia is only marginally better..
good phone, sloow interface, good gps, poor camera languishing in a
drawer at the mo
using my old k800i again

New Mobile
I need to upgrade soon to and want to stay on Orange. I currently still use a SE P990i which i like as i use it for email a lot and the flip down keyboard makes email and TXT so easy. I keep looking but nothing seems to come close for this unless i goto Black berry but the camera/video which i would like to use isnt really that good and i hate slow operating systems so dont fancy anything using windows mobile as it always seems slow.
Touch screens dont seem be as easy to use as a key pad for typing

Ah the N95 camera, forgot that bit. It's mind numbingly slow to start and also to take pictures. Effectvely useless for anything other than completely stationary objects, and even then the focus is laughable.
Still waiting for a decent phone to be released...

I'm with O2 and on £35/month and got the HTC Touch HD for free (they'll try and stiff you for £98 at first) and I get unlimited 'net with that now. I upgraded at the start of this month.
The phone is just superb - there are LOADS of extras available, I have guys in the office stacking stuff up for me to have. You get an 8Gb micro SD with it and the interface is excellent.
Heartily recommend it!

Had the n95 and the n96 on orange and have never had any problems with either. Most people who have problems have not updated the firmware since they have had the phone
Saying that my mate has the n96 with vodaphone and even with the latest firmware it crashes every 5 minutes
