Default Dads 60th....gift ideas

As above, it is my dads 60th on 1st Feb and I would like to get him something nice. He always tells me not to bother or to get him a couple of nice bottles of red.

I have struggled for years as he has everything that he has ever needed so I always try and get him something that means something to him or the slim chance he wants it.

I was thinking a DAB but it would have to have CD and Cassette (he's struggling to get up to date with his formats).....their conservatory roof leaked and ruined the old one.

I bought my old boy a laptop as he had never really used the net. He wanted to take advantage of the bargains that it has to offer - and, i suspect - to look a *****

I have same problem with my dad hes a pain to buy presents for. Normally get him a couple of bottles of whiskey for his birthday & xmas, 1 to drink & 1 for his collection.

But for his 60th we hired room of a pub & did a party. Invited a load of family & his friends, some who he hadn't seen for years.

Buy him a new conservatory roof...

If I was 60 and my son bought me this "link below" I would be overwhelmed.

Abyss 1000 Copper

$1200 = nearly £1000 plus P&P Plus import duty...

Or buy mine worn less that a dozen times, as new, all boxes and papers.
Much cheapness to fellow SN member.

dig an old pic of him out of a special moment, maybe with you as a child, or with your mum, or brothers and sisters, anything special. have the pic made into a canvas Canvas prints and your pictures onto canvas from £10 usually goes down well with the old folk.

lol, i know a guy half your dads age that would nurse a semi if he was given that a present

there's loads of these experiences out there to look at if it's his bag. my dads always been into artic lorrys so i booked him up a lorry experience, he had a cracking time

nowadays you can get up to anything from flying a plane, to driving a tank, a rally car, pretty much anything you can think of. and it's not massively expensive for a landmark birthday either

Book him a 2 hour flying lesson, that's what I'm going to do for my Mums 60th.

Not a huge amount of money either.

Does he like his motorsport?

I bought my dad two bottles of wine from Jarno Trulli's vinyard.

Came with some interesting Toyota bits and bobs and made a great present.

Thumbs up

It's my dads 70th in November so not decades away (well, only one)

Looking at getting him a new 42" HD TV (Plasma / LCD) - depends if you can still buy Plasma's in November I guess.

Being 60 he will have been a "youf" when it was all happening in the hippy 60s. Was he into his music do you know?

May be you could use that era as some sort of theme? dl
