I'm a bit confused. Surely he is the 1st mixed race president, given that he has 1 white parent and 1 black parent?

And yet every news bulletin I hear says he is the 1st black president.

Does this mean we should now refer to mixed race as black, and if so is mixed race now another term we are not supposed to use?

It's a funny one, I think it's down to the individual to decide which direction they follow, I have as few mixed race friends, all the guys seem to lean toward the black side, where as the girl I know is the opposite.

 

Things keep changing, its so hard to be politically correct these days...

If he considers himself as being more black then I guess thats what we call him...

 

I think we should find his pantone colour and refer to him by that. These are important things which we need to define how we treat a person.

I believe the definition of "black" comes as the USA dont recognise "mixed race" as an ethinicity. You're black or white out there. Making allowances for other races of course.

In short, if your skin is not white, but you are of a mixed white, and african origin, you are black.

 

Doesn't matter, the future is a light brown anyway after the Equality Commission revealed one in 10 kids in Britain today is from a mixed race background.

Once everyone is the same they'll be able to disband themselves.

Best of luck to him, he is going to need it with the state the country is in and it could Will be that history sees him as the man that ran the US into the ground with all their economic problems.

He will could have it twice as bad as his 'white' predecessors, every decision he makes will upset someone black or white and he could well be accused of favouring one over the other. I would hope his colour will become irrelevant and that he is a good and fair president

Seems to be getting a LOT more coverage tha our own Prime Ministers when they get sworn in.

They make cr4p cars, they were largely responsible for the credit crunch, they blow everyone up and they are mostly fat.

It is a bit confusing there does appear to be alot of hype from the media saying first Black President.What happened to half - cast or half-caste,that used to be a term used when someone wasn't black but not white either(mixed raced)So he is mixed raced,he's not pure Black or Pure White.

 

Caste systems an indian thing thing isnt it - and rather awful as far as i can see
