Role models? Your nomination?

Role models? Your nomination?
We seem to have gone through 15 years of junk.Big Brother,The Beckhams,X factor etc.
Who do you think actually is a decent role model that you wouldn't mind your kids aspiring to be like?
On a sports front,I reckon Ryan Giggs.Seems totally unaffected by anything and anyone.Could have gone completely bonkers like some of these premiership wasters but seems to train hard, work hard, play good football and he's getting on now.Keeps out of the press (unless I read the wrong press!)
(I know I would have turned into a George Best type character if I'd have had the gift/lots of money/adoration of the fans )
Note...I do not support Man U!

Personally, anyone who is a top proffessional in any chosen sport my child wanted to compete in.
Otherwise I would like to think Id be a role model for my own child. As well as my Dad did for himself never once did I grow up wanting to be like him, I'd like to think once Ive settled with a wife and child/children I'd want to do such a good job that I'd be the one they look up to

Richard Branson. Alan Sugar. Built up successful businesses from nothing.
Lewis Hamilton, Paul scholes, Ryan Giggs. Hard working sport stars who aren't in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Richard Branson's autobiography is a compelling read.

I guess someone like Lance Armstrong would be an excellent role model. Being diagnosed with testicular cancer that actually spread to his brain and then coming back to win the Tour de France 7 times in a row. Utterly incredible.
(and yes I've heard all the unsubstantiated stories about him taking drugs)

I second that, astonishing what he has done. Truly desrves all the recognition he gets in my opinion .
That said he must be stark raving bonkers to even think about some of those things. Namely the 7 marathons shortly after having a heart attack.

Chris Hoy.
I'm currently reading Heroes, Villains and Velodromes: Chris Hoy and Britain's Track Cycling Revolution - a top read.

I'm going to have to nominate Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe President) as, I'm reliably informed by UB and others, that he has transformed his country into a veritable mirror of British society. This is remarkable in the extreme as his country was a sh1thole without compare just a few months ago.
Credit due me thinks
On a more serious note ( ), Paul Scholes gets my vote too!

Your all wrong as it's Tiger Woods. World wide recognition and respect, he's also given millions to charities and has opened many schools for under privileged kids. The guy is a living legend and changed the game of golf forever, a total athlete and the ultimate competitor. You never hear bad press of him either.

And returning to take part in this year's TDF too
