Question When someone steals your pint

Sitting down at the bar with the gfriend over xmas insteps couple geezers other side one considerably worse for wear ( i vaugely recognise them) .
The sober one gets them in , but the other is off somewhere and then re-appears and is now leaning against the wall about 3 feet behind us virtually nodding off or eyeing up the gfriend ...??
Well after hes been there about 5 minutes he steps to the bar and necks half my pint , i think hes even forgotten his mates got one in and hes barely able to make conversation/stand up .
Anyway barmaid replaces my pint whilst mattey stands there hoping shell serve him another ( which she doesnt) and a few minutes later his mates persuaded him at long last hes better off going home.

- I found it all slightly amusing/felt a bit sorry for him - theyd obviously been working it was xmas , i hadnt , and hed found it necessary to get bladdered ...

Question is maybe i should have just decked him ....?

Or when the other guy is blind drunk (when you're not!)

A year or two ago Kenny quoted a thread/question from SN in 1999, to show how things have changed. From 'pardon me for asking but might anyone be able to offer a solution?' to 'should I of decked him?' in ten years...

Decked Him ?

Depends how much you like going to court ?

That would be a barristers gift, a case of getting the wrong pint, his injured party, ok he was a little the worse for wear, etc etc.

Any thug with an ounce of self-respect wouldn't deck him.

They'd have glassed him.

If you found it amusing and you got your pint replaced?? It would of served no purpose to hit him except to possibly spoil your night. At least this way you can laugh at the drunken man

Did he know it was your pint or was it a mistake?

erm , yes - about 10 people in the pub and he was stood behind us for a good 5 mins surveying the possibilties ,

- still i was half way down it and a free pint came so apart from a touch of embarassment next time we meet ,no harm done

Believe it or not - he's 43. One year older than me. I've seen enough rumbles in my youth to avoid them like the plague. It's just not worth it.

Unless, of course, you can pop a swift punch in without getting noticed
