Why do you get idiots paying over the odds on Ebay ?
Ebay used to be great for bargains but these days you get idiots paying over the odds for stuff, ive seen them buy things like dvd`s on ebay and then pay more than you can get it for at places like play.com etc
Also ive seen them buy things like canon refurbished cameras where they have paid virtually the same amount as what they are in the shops brand new, they are just a few examples of many more things that they pay over the odds for.
Whats it all about ?

Some people are lazy, lol
take these for example, they are ltd edition, and no different from the normal models except that these are gold plated.
I have two pairs of the normal ones, and yesterday I bought a pair of these gold ones
:
Ex-Display TECHNICS SL1200 / 1200LTD GOLD TURNTABLES on eBay, also, Turntables, DJ Equipment, Consumer Electronics (end time 07-Jan-09 16:22:40 GMT)

Yup, its great. I love selling old stuff for more than I paid for it...or at least I used to. I don't like eBay at all now as a rule. Too much hassle, and seller's fees are just too high.

If I could buy 1000 Wii FIT Boards direct fron Japan at a good rate I would be laughing.
I would imagine a 1000 pieces would be about £20 each shipped, then pay your duty and flog them to fools on E-bay for £100.
Mine was £68.50 from Argos the last one so they said, and now nobody has them apparently, and those that do are commanding £100+.
1000 units @ £20 = £20,000 +17.5% = £23,500
1000 units @ £100 ebay price = £100,000
£76,500 profit on a £23.500 outlay.
Oh, if life was so simple..

yoza but it is surely you have just set your own plan stated the profit, your a man with means why not buy it on the credit card? if the japs bump ya surely you can claim in back as its a c card purchase, sounds a risk worth taking to me, unfortunatly my credit card hasnt got that sort of limit lol

I made a sh@tload of money one time doing "dropshipping" It's perfectly legal, bought a boxfull of motorised dvd head units from a wholesaler, advertised them on ebay singally, and then just forwarded the delivery addresses onto the wholesalers and they shipped them out, I pay for the lot with paypal after I'm paid by my buyers, and I keep the profit made

My 4 YO has swollowed all my spare cash, nursery fees alone is £140 per week, then food, clothes, treats, toys etc....
A 4 day week, single shift (no shift allowance) watch fetish, one job, instead of two, three gas guzzellers, DOESNT HELP...you know how it is...all donations gratefully recieved.

thats all great untill say 50 units sold but 7 of the planks on ebay decided to try scam you and claim not received and start a dispute, then you find for the rest of the cash paypal has held it back untill the buyer says they have received it, or then then decided it might be illegal activity due to the amount and freeze your account for a month or so
paypal sucks lol, i never use it to sell only buy, i lost £150 due to paypals idiocy when i sold a phone a year or so back, tossers

£97.00 on amazon, and people are selling broke ones for £60 upwards,
my wife sold herr phone for £85.00 that was £80 in argos,
if you go to the car auctions you see a similar thing, joe public ruunning stuff up to more than its worth.

Yoza, not a bad plan, but falls down on a few points...
1) I doubt you'd get them into this country that cheap, not once you have paid the shipping for a container and import duty. The mark up on hardware for gaming stuff is pretty tiny, most of the money is made on games.
2) To open a trade account with Nintendo will probably need a MUCH bigger initial order than that - in all honesty they would tell you they wont sell to you direct, and would make you open an account with their UK distributor, who wouldn't let you open one when you tell them you aren't already a business, don't have a retail shop, and are hoping to flog the lot on Ebay.
If it was that easy and cheap, sellers who already have trade accounts with Nintendo would be importing them by the container load and selling them for £30 or £40 to beat all their competitors and making a fortune.

I bought a few WII consoles on Amazon.de last year when they were out of stock in the Uk. Made a tidy profit on each one but Amazon got wise and stopped uk buyers using the .de site
Not quite so good now with the exchange rate but it was good while it lasted and yet another example of the Uk buyer being charged more than our European cousins.

It works both ways I do a search first on the net then you know what to bid upto
Some stuff is cheap some stuff like fifa 08 on PS3 £25
and people actually pay that for it 
fifa 09 is only £19.99 
Ive just ordered a boiler part and its £40 cheaper then the cheapist place on the net so bonus
It annoys me people who early bid you should only bid with your maximum bid in the last 3 seconds

the one i've seen that's a bit mad is collectables, mainly medals, coins, stamps etc some are going for stupid money
if you buy from a collector/auction house you pay a fee plus VAT, maybe this has driven a few to ebay and the like, but people are paying way over the odds for some stuff.

I've seen the same with AV gear. People paying for 1-2 year old speakers/amps etc what I could haggle a dealer down to for a brand new one within 5 minutes on the phone. Madness...

eBay is great if you find a niche market to sell in, Ive been selling old footy shirts on there since 2000.
I bought a Man Utd 2001 reversable long sleeved shirt from JD Sports in 2001 for £40, two years later I sold it on eBay for £128, easy money!
