Does anyone know if the forward facing digital cameras have to photo you when you're on the white lines or can they take the pic just before you get there (hope not)?
For some reason the forward facing cameras in our area have the lines after the camera. The Truvelo doesnt need any lines as it has two seperate sensors in the road set at a specific distance in front of the camera. It uses these to calculate your speed. There is no need for a back up such as the white lines.
The lines are part of the kits approval. Without them it is impossible to establish which vehicle triggered the system; where more than one vehicle is in the picture frame.
Oh and if the lines are after the cam it is because the cam has been modified to take rear facing pics too as they can now. Also don't forget that they work bi-directional covering both lanes of traffic as they can be swivelled 180deg.
what about if your overtaking and theres a camera on the otherside of the road can that still get you (hull-york anyone know them). as you are travelling in the wrong direction to the camera
No it can't. They only "get you" if you're on the side of the road it's currently set up to monitor. I used to go past one every day by using the wrong side of the road no problems.
