I need to transfer a plate from a car onto retention - What documents do i need??

You'll need the V5 (reg doc), MOT if applicable and also the tax disc again if applicable.

Sometimes they do a 1 in 10 inspection of vehicles, where you'll have to meet the local guy who checks the chassis numbers,desrciption of car,etc match up (standard procedure for them to do this)...takes about 5 minutes.

If you have the time then pop into your local DVL as by post it takes a while longer...especially this time of year due to the new regs in March.

It costs (If I remeber correctly) £100 and that includes the fee to transfer it within the 12 months of doing so...

Thats what i'm after.

I have a plate on retention to put on a Car, and also a plate on a different car that i need to put on retention .

Gonna go to the office in Manchester tomoroow.

V778/1 to put it on retention, then apply to your VRO when you want to assign it to a vehicle.

Just done both ours, only took about 4 days to get the new reg, but the closer you get to 1st March the slower it will get.

SO if I have tax/v5/log can i just get the forms when I get there... I presume.. Not bothered about assigning the plate at the mo as it's waiting for the scoob
