I've a friend staying with me at the moment until he finds a new flat. He has been warned not to even go on facebook with my laptop. I don't use it, it's for losers.

I used to have one for a few months then it was deleted. If I want people to know about my personal life I'll tell them myself. The less people know about me, the better.

Bit of a sweeping statement.

Yet you've been happy to type out 11000+ posts on here in the last few years

I've been here since Oct 2002 That is pretty frightening. I've commited to SN longer than I have any of my boyfriends

This is a discussion forum. People only know about me what I want to tell them, they can't snoop, I can't land myself in ****, I'm sure you know what I mean. I've got so much **** stuff going on right now it's unreal, but I keep it to myself - they're my problems and I'll deal with them. I don't want some half wit I barely know wishing me good luck for my hospital appointment, or meeting with my solicitor, then some tube I don't particularly like getting wind of whats going on. The idle chit chat starts and before you know it half of the city thinks I've got some life threatening illness or I'm due up in court for something - which blatantly isn't the case!

Why do you post such personal stuff on face book, when you have accepted people you hardly know as friends?

Rather than saying people who use facebook are losers, I'd look a little closer to home.

Loser

Can you read, davy? I don't have facebook. And I didn't post anything personal for the short time I did. It was an example of what goes on.

You did have it, you made a clown of yourself, and now accuse all users of being a loser.

Yes I can read.....a little bit deeper than you perhaps

Contrary to what you may believe, I watched plenty of other people making clowns of themselves. Being caught cheating, cheating on their partners, having domestics, family spats. I'm too cool for all that jazz. I prefer to do my networking down the pub.

As for reading deeper, I suggest you learn to read whats put in front of you first, before trying to read between lines that aren't even there.

Ah, your friends all live on a council estate

Online or not, these people do the same stuff.

And what does living on a council estate have to do with it? I take it your life is so rosy and perfect you've never cheated on anyone/anyone cheated on you, had an argument with your spouse or had a spat with someone in your family?

And who said the people I am talking about are my friends? My friends have more finesse than you give them credit for, and probably more than you posses yourself. If they do have matters that have to be dealt with, then they are - behind closed doors.

Sometimes I feel that trying to have a reasoned debate with some of the members on here is like pissing in the wind.

Generally speaking, a reasoned debate does not start with a huge sweeping statement.

I thought that was how to debate? Make a statement/point and then discuss/give your arguement? Is that not what I've done?

Oh and might as well add in refraining from making personal insults

I'd say not.

Facebook is for losers because XYZ would be classed as sensible debate.

"I don't use it, it's for losers" isnt.

IMHO of course.
