It was a bit depressing, but I've always thought Louis Theroux is a brilliant interviewer. Quite an eye opener into what goes on - some of the cops are too heavy handed & alienate the locals, then on the other hand you get that fat drug dealer guy wearing $100,000 worth of jewellery reckoning on he's a property developer despite being quite clearly whacked off his **** on PCP.

Fricking hell
Made "hard man" Ross Kemps little gang shows look like kiddie stuff.
More action on the streets of Philly in One show than Kemp has seen in Two series.
Everytime they were driving along someone was getting capped or taken down for having a strap. The hunter chap was about the most "street" cop i've ever seen on telly. He could sniff trouble miles away and had the respect of the locals too.

I think he was out there for about 4 weeks, so the drama was condensed.
The problem we have ladies and gentlemen, is the problem of ****** not snitching on other ******
They are so dumb. They are beyond help.
Remember I did a smily face before dishing me a red card and stuff!

The guy who he asked,
"Do you know who shot you?"
GUY: "no"
"if you did know, would you report him"
Guy: "No"
What a frickin dumbass.. yeah just go and shoot him you cretin.. that'll help.
The next one looks even worse. I can't believe the city is still standing tbh.. if that's the future of England I'll get my coat.

Stayed in a town just above philly for a while. The local news was just scary. Every night there were reports of shootings, it got so "everyday" that after a while I began to realise that its easy to get used to it and not be shocked anymore. They seemed exited to show the deathtoll figures were reduced from just over 400 in a year to about 390. City of brotherly love

Excellent programme that. Those cops have got some huge cahonas working those streets. That whole situation is hopelessly out of control though its just a loose loose situation that will probably never be resolved.

A lot of similarities to a few inner city parts of Manchester I can tell you. It might not happen every day (i.e shootings) but its a lot more frequent than you might always think and those run down areas shown on the prog were almost identical looking to certain parts of Salford, Moston, Cheetham... and the locals have a similar attitude towards the dibble and giving information. Not quite as bad, but not far off IME.

Oh, sorry... the reason, a van screached to a stop, 6 blokes got out and he ran. Thats the reason
Good program, bit of an eye opener but i found it disturbing that Hunter drove passed a "Drug Lord" and said something like "Oh yeh, he's a drug lord round here, i like him"

No, i didnt miss that bit, i saw him get picked up for standing on someones head but he was released without charge later on. My point is, if they KNOW he is the top dog drug lord, then why befriend him? Surely it would be better to lock him up and throw away the key.
Sounds to me like the police are trying to live with the problem rather than solve it.

All the Police in the world know that criminals and drug lords can police themselves better than the police ever could. If one person has undisputed control of an area the shootings stop as there are no disputes over territory, if you have that one person disapear the gangs splinter and start fighting again. Most shootings in the US are fights between rival gangs fighting over street corners to sell drugs from.

dont forget its one thing knowing who the drug lords are, its another thing having enough evidence to convict them, these people hide behind an army of people doing the dirty work under their command.
The police dont befriend these people and let them get away with it, but they do stay close to them waiting for their time to come.

How dumb was that kid with the bb gun! Nearly got himself shot!
JoBerg next week should be even better, my mates from there and seen people getting shot in the face point blank in a coffee shop for the money register! Bring on the World Cup 2010!

The no snitching thing is more than just gang/community/racial honour. There's a very real probability that the snitcher would get fatally clobbered before it came anywhere near court.

Didnt want to believe how low the standard had gone on the streets,
How long before we get it here ? seems like every day we have a black on black shooting or stabbing,
