Default Mortgage down by 1%

Got a letter yesterday from my Building Society saying that they have dropped my mortgage by 1%

That was a nice christmas bonus from them

Certainly wasn't expecting it, in fact I was actually expecting it to go up

I would have been surprised to see it go up with the recent drops.

We're with Northern Rock and within days of the cuts they wrote and said we were getting the full 1.5% cut. We came off our fixed rate in Sept as our deal with them ended. We had hoped to move this year but are putting it off with the drops in the hope we can keep this house too. Our mortgage is only another 30 quid more now than when we were on the fixed rate! Very happy!!

Luckily mine is a base rate tracker less 0.16 - so mine has gone to 2.84%. The way things are we may even see another rate cut.
