Woolies for £1
#4
I worked there for a year in the IT dept, generally a well run company, met some nice people (Burgerking/Steve, you still lurk on here ?) just suffering with its market position being squeezed, the people who I worked with in the actual shops (did two days, one for orientation and one at Christmas) worked hard and possessed organisational skills hat would shame many a Local Government "manager" for a fiver an hour.
Will be a sad day when Woolies dissapears from our High Streets.

My mum and sister are both managers of woolies stores, not a good time for them right now.
Woolworths should have been sold in the summer when the bloke who owns Iceland (frozen foods not the country!) bid £50 million.

Still working in the IT department at Woolies and still lurking here occasionally (I don't own a Scooby any more). It's fair to say that we're all a little worried about the current situation but I can't influence the situation personally so I'll just have to deal with the outcome
On a more cheerful note, Strictly Come Dancing is about to start and the red wine is open

Hi Steve, glad to see you are still around, all the best, I hope one way or another, whatever happens you do all right out of the situation, you are a capable bloke, I suspect you will.
Say hi to Chris and co for me.

I remember buying Rick Astley's album there too, not sure I should admit that?

I saw Don Estelle (Lofty from It Aint Half Hot Mum) promoting his record in our local store. He was set up in the corner, singing away. He could carry a tune, too.
I could only have been 7 or 8 but still managed to recognise something desperately sad in it all...

THe problem is there not specialized, they should change into a cheap shop, primark/wilkinsons/pound land with a amazing coffee shop. Theres big money in them.
