Question Tom Tom Question

I have had a Tom Tom Sat Nav for about 3 years, someone else in the family has just got one.

Whilst I can connect mine to the PC and use the program - this other one is having trouble.

Does it not like an old one and a new one talking to the same PC? The new user cannot download the program.

Is it something to do with the version of the maps?

I was told that its normally impossible to copy and swap map cards between tomtom units to prevent piracy/theft of the maps. Maybe its something to do with that, and like you say the two units on one computer using different map versions?

That's what I thought - I have no interest in copying the latest maps, but don't want to do something which damages the new TomTom.

I may e-mail TomTom, they have been very good in the past with their comunications.

Have you downloaded the latest Tom-tom software which enables use from a shortcut on your desktop?I presume you have.
What I found(using 2 Tom-tom one's) is along the lines as another poster advised, the site asks if you want to swap units as the main unit and the second unit have different identities.
It's a matter of clicking in the options/choices when offered, but I'm not sure how many times you can do this before it prolly locks you out.
