F1 at Silverstone?
Thinking of going to Silverstone, for the weekend, next year to watch the F1 and looking at getting seats within the Luffield grandstands (sat in this stand at Touring Cars and seemed quite a good spot).
Has anyone been and watched F1 from this area?
Also planning on booking a camping spot around the Whittlebury Golf Club, seems to be in a reasonable location?
Was just wondering if any of you guys had been and either sat in the Luffield complex and/or used the same camping ground and could pass on any comments good or bad?
Thanks

Sorry not viewed from Luffield but imagine would be quite good. I've been with mates for the last 5 years and always stayed at the SRA campsite. They have a clubhouse there obviously with draught beers flowing, hot showers and serve crap food. Its about a 5 min walk into Silverstone village which has a pub and a shop. Its great when the weather has been good but like all camping not good when it pi55es down but then thats where the pub and club come in

If you ask 10 people the best place to watch F1 from at Silverstone then you will generally get 10 different answers.
I've watched the F1 cars from every stand (during Fri and Sat) and now always watch the race from the Pit Straights Grandstand. My other choices would be Woodcote, followed by Luffield.
If it's your first time to a F1 race then use the Fri and Sat to explore the rest of the stands and leave Luffield until Sunday, and bring nice comfy footwear cos you'll be doing lots and lots of walking

We watched the 2002 race from the pit straight grandstand and is was awful. Nowhere near as good as watching it from a grass bank at beckets in 2000! Now that was a spot to sit. Prices for a grandstand seat at beckets for next year are around £250!

Been for the last 5 years, and Luffield is by far the best place imo (especially for photos with a big lens). Great view of a large chunk of track, and a good view of the large tv screens (so you can keep up with what's going on).
Sadly not going next year. Just too expensive...

Thanks for the info
Been to see F1 twice before but never from the Luffield complex. Once had a general admission ticket, but dont fancy this again as we were at the gates at 5am with hundreds of others ready to scramble to our area of choice (was down near club corner).
I have a 300mm lens too and got some nice shots of the BTCC cars from this area so hopefully F1 would be as good, although not sure if I will be able to keep up with the cars
From looking around the golf club seems the nearest camp site with the next probably being Hamilton Fields which is a 20 min walk.
The seats we are looking at in Luffield are about £270 each but this is for a weekend ticket. With this and all other costs, F1 will probably be our holiday for next year!

As you meniton, never fancied the pit grandstands as you only seem to see the top half of the cars.
