Default Does looking for a new car drive you nuts?

It does me!!

I posted about 4 weeks ago in Other Marques about a S2000 or an Audi TT225.

Since then I've been looking at;

Lotus Elise. Great handling but I want more POWER, so....
Lotus Exige S! But they're out of my price range.
Then I watch Top Gear and "Ooooo those V8's sound so cool "..... So,
A BMW M5, can be had for 10k but potential 6k bills put me off. ( Check the post in Other Marques ) so I think...
What about a 4 door saloon then? ....
Now a Honda Accord Type R fits the bill, love these ( had one ) but don't think I can live with the narrow power band.
In that case, why not try a Impreza?....
Love the idea, but I'm not sure, I'd probably need to drive one/two/three. And WHICH ONE? There's flippin hundred's of models! So.....
if I'm looking at Impreza's it would be silly not to consider an EVO, so...
The EVO 5 or 6 fall within my price range, but can I find a unmolested one?

And on and on and on it goes.

Someone put me out of my misery please!!

I had to make a quick decision a few weeks back when my car got nicked.

Put yourself under some pressure, that would help you make a decision!

I'm doing it too (see thread in other marques ), it's my favourite hobby

All I know is that I will eventually buy the one that I can't really afford but like the most, a definite 'heart' decision

Nice idea, but I have a commute car, this is a weekend toy, but needs 4 seats so I can cram the whole family into it.

At weekends!

When the 5.7 VXR goes under 10k, I'll be thinking about it...

I've put a link up to one for £10.5K ..... can you stretch that *little* further?

(I wish I could!)

Whoops - sorry.... missed the bit about VXR

It got a lot easier when I found another hobby, and now things like transits vans excite me, and a car that does 50mpg!

My mate has had a couple, a 5.7 std (only 60 VXR made it seems) and a 6.0 VXR. Nice to drive but japanese-esque plastics.
6.0 has stupidly small boot.
And I consistantly take the pee about his 1980's non RDS radio

No you don't!

The Monaro has just gone to the top of the list, and as I'm not buying until next summer, the VXR may come into the reckoning too.

Read some good stuff on the net, reliable, quick and sounds fantastic with a decent exhaust. On the cost side, good mpg on a motorway run, cheap servicing, and the insurance is cheaper than a Scooby.

Does it get any better!!

If Monaros were as cheap 12 months ago as they are now, I wouldn't have bought the Skyline.

WIDE gear ratio? 1600 rpm at 80?

The fact that it was the car to shut jezza slagging VX's off?

and if you don't let me have a spin in the one you'll buy, I'll **** in your expansion chamber

Incidentally... and before I forget.

Have you considered the Holden HSV? I almost bought one. The guy was willing to PX our Vectra 3.2 V6 GSi, but his WIFE said no!

There's always this Supercharged 6.3 Litre 700BHP version: Murketts - Huntingdon - Cambridgeshire | Quality Prestige Used Cars, Online Showroom

I may have messed myself seeing this.....

You know what, 10 minutes ago I was looking at this in the EVO car section.

We're not twins are we?

OH MY GOD, what a car. But it's out of my price range.

I drove the Elise round Castle Combe and was really impressed with the handling-like a dream.

Surely it could be tweaked up a bit.

Great car Les, and the "lack" of power is why I looked at an Exige S. However, with 2 kids and my wife to move around too, a 4 seater is required. We could load the Monaro up for weeks hol in the UK, that's something the Elise could never do.

Yes I see what you mean, it would be too small for us too,

Les
