BMW insurance claim
A mate recently had an accident in his BMW 528i. He is a careful driver and the accident was a result of aquaplaning on a dual-carriageway, due to very heavy rain. The car is a write off.
He doesn't drink and the police an insurance have accepted that he was not at fault. Nobody (including himself - miraculously) was hurt, or involved in the accident.
He has just had the insurance offer him £1800 for his car.
Problem is, his car is immaculate. For its uniqueness, it should be at least double their estimate.
The model he has, 1996 528i is probably worth that as a base model.
His, however, was bought with every extra tha BMW offered..
Black leather, manual, upgraded BMW wheels, communications pack etc.
This caused the price to be raised, from circa £32,000 to £44,000 when new.
It has also just broken 100k miles...so is massiviely under the average for milage of cars its age.
The insurance has said, if he can produce 3 pieces of evidence to show its worth, then they'd consider rethinking their offer.
Any help?
Thank you,
Chris

Reject the offer they give you initially as a matter of course. They will try to get away with the least amount they can. They are a business after all
I did this when I had both my previous cars stolen and they came back with quite a good offer afterwards.
Wish him luck!

Buy a used BMW 5 SERIES Car - Auto Trader UK
out of pure boredom at work- did this. he could buy one identical and have £50 change. its a 12 yr old car.
but I'd argue for more. although not many for sale though by the looks of it.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Pretty much the same response as I've been thinking of.
Its pretty hard to find one of that age and model, let alone with all the toys he had.
