Dyson
Got a new vac yesterday. A Dyson DC24.
The thing is absolutely fantastic and I have used it twice already.
God, how sad am I, talking about vacs on a car forum

I refuse to buy anything from Dyson.
Guy made £150m from his Vacum cleaner. What did he give his staff as a reward? P45's.
Moved production to India or China.
Thanks for making me mega rich, only I want more money. Your fired.
Enjoy unemployment.

He Moved his factory to Malaysia because the local planners would not permit him to expand his factory in Malmesbury.
Just like they've stopped him building his School of Engineering in Bath because of the listed (almost falling down) victorian buildings he wanted to convert... and same reaction...some other country will profit.
He also supports many local charities (increasing all the time) and our local fire station iirc

Please be more informed if you are going to bad mouth someone without knowing all the facts.

Moving to a nearby town would have been a solution. Not half way round the world.
Paying £1 a day per person probably swung it.

The area of land he was trying to expand into has since been developed by Persimmon homes.... basically, it comes down to refusing to play the "you scratch my back..I'll scratch yours"... which I admire him for.

The courier that does our collects also does the faulty Dyson's for the area (High Wycombe, Marlow & Stokenchurch), he regularly has 20-30 units on the van.

Paid £120 for ours, 5 years ago, still chugging along. I broken the handle when it fell down the stairs on top of me (note to self: clean steps go up with cleaner at the bottom, not the other way round! ).
£20 sorted it for a new one online, parts are quite cheap when I looked. So makes me wonder how many people who complain and throw them away do so without checking up the cost and wide availabilty of parts to fix it. They are repairable if your handy at popping off plastic clips with a screwdriver (without breaking them ).
Either way miles better than Electrolux and Hoover combined!
Why don't Meile make uprights? cylinder vacs are rubbish at properly cleaning deep pile carpets.
Edit, just checked, they've just released one - took their time

One negative is it doesn't like plaster dust too much though, probably like most bagless cleaners, it just blocks the filter. And 2" nails get stuck in the "U" tube at the bottom, so don't vacuum up nails or screw longer than 1"
Maybe I shouldn't be using it for cleaning up after house renovation

Finally a mention of Sebo!
We have a pretty huge carpet area and a dog - we wanted the best cleaner possible but upright so Miele was ruled out. Kirby are just ancient, but well made. The Sebo just works well all the time and pulls itself along too. Bit heavy for stairs if you're a weed but not a lot else will match it.
Dysons are made of chocolate box plastic.
