Western America
Hi
Im wanting to visit Western America but i need to find out average temperatures / sun / rainfall for that area.
Im not wanting to go when its piping hot - July / Aug?
Just wondering when would be a nice time to visit when the temperatures are bearable
Wanting to visit places like.....
L Vegas, G Canyon, S Francisco, LA, Monument Valley, Utah etc

We did all of the above in June this year. San Fran was cold, G Canyon was red hot. Vegas was unbearably hot but we were in the middle of a heatwave
Having said that I'd definitely go back at that time of year, it doesn't take too long to get used to it, in fact I'm still mourning the loss of all that lovely heat

Hi,
I've done this area back in September/October 2002 and it's difficult to find constant temperatures. We saw 90 degree heat in Yosemite National Park one week then experienced freezing conditions and snow around Monument Valley area, it's very hard to pack for!!
All the places you mention are great places to visit, I really enjoyed them all! LA was pretty crap though tbh, I didn't like the place or the Hollywood area. As soon as we hit the road and started heading up Highway 1 things improved, theres some great little towns to stop at on the way up to San Fran. Yosemite is awesome, make sure you don't miss that place, I need to go back their and climb Half Dome soon!

We don;t bother really packing for the weather anymore, we just tend to stop at a Walmart if we need something..... they're everywhere, and they sell everything...... guns, tv's, even tyres for your car, they'll change the oil in some whilst you shop...LOL

oh yeah i got a nice list of things to do.
LA, down to San Diego, to Colorado river, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Las vegas, San Francisco and back to LA again
My main query is that i will be probably be going around March time and not sure what the weather is like over there at that time of year.
June/Jul/Aug i know will be ROASTING hot but im looking to visit just before then and im thinking March might be still a bit nippy?
Or am i thinking too much about March weather in the UK!?

Don't skip Arizona.
My favorite place is Oak Creek Canyon:
The Grand Canyon is the most amazing place I've ever been. I went in April and it wasn't very busy:
