Got our new van the day after 7 months of waiting, its got a 2.2 turbo diesel, cd/radio, elec windows and mirrors cruise control , and traction control which we've been told never to turn off, sounds dangerous. once its taxed will take it out will let you know if i survive

those things dont half shift i drove one a while ago and it was like driving a car

I do hear that Ford vans rust a bit, and Mercs are the daddy vans in the market. Yours still seems pretty good. Enjoy it.

 

Id recommemd a warranty at year 4 up to 1500 - for when the flywheel disentagrates ..

That is ridiculous. That performance matches things like a 1.8 Mazda MX-5, and that is a thoroughbred sports car, but without the dynamics and handling to match.
This will only lead to much abuse and arrogant driving by its owners. I hope Insurance companies clamp down on that silliness.

No, no paint or dents we paneled and shelved the back today to stop that happening. Not driving it yet hopefully it pulls me trailer better than the last one, its not taxed they gave us it to work on through the weekend. Yes we did get it from philips a trade in for our old transit we've always had transits didnt fancy the mercedes. Cheers all for my dads chuffed as its his but i always drive, so my new toy

 

Had a few of these myself, good workhorses.

The ESP button on dash was off 99% of the time for me, made it too restrictive, I like to have fun , whatever I drive!

They have a few faults, but whatever you buy you'll get faults.

But I'd deffo have one again should I need to go back to a van.


Using a double cab pick up with a 2.5 turbo diesel giving me 171bhp and 300 lbft of torque. Lots of fun!

I believe Ford have now gone back to a solid flywheel ..... Now they have flooded the market with crappy dual mass flywheels on older models.

I am of the opinion that R&D at Ford does not exist any more ........ Let the punters find out our problems with the design.

I'm not sure they have sorted the fuel pump issues yet though .... 2 fuel pumps and one of which needs programming into the ECU if it goes, and at a cost of approx. £1000-£1200, I have had one replaced

My uncle was waiting longer than 7 months I think. Cancelled it, and managed to get one somewhere else.

ive got the same model van as a work van! Love all the cup holders even one for a 2ltr Bottle

Also under the left top storage box there's a AUX imput for stereo for iPod or MP3 player. Loads better then the models before

 

Because it needs programming into the ECU (which no-one seems to have access to software for), it has to be done by a Ford agent or someone very close to them, and you pay for it

I really cannot see how they can charge this, but the van is needed to work with, so what do you do.

To buy the pump alone is about £600, yet on a Subaru you can buy an uprated Walbro pump for under £100 ........ Seems ridiculous

I think you are confusing your fuel pumps with your high pressure injector pumps.
The pump that pressurises the fuel rail on a modern common rail diesel produces around 1600bar (Over 23000PSi). Some are over 2000bar/30000psi.

A Scoob with 15 PSi of turbo boost will typically run 55Psi fuel pressure when modded.

That's the reaon for the price difference.

Diesel engines are shared arcoss manufactures and fuel and injector systems are shared even more so.

There have been injector fuel pump failures across most common rail diesels although Fords do seem to have had more than their fairshare or maybe just because of the numbers sold?

Better off with a scooby? Well had it's fair share of engine problems as well, servicing costs, insurance and tax. That's before we consider fuel costs.

Currently I run two cars.
Car 1. £440 tax next year, 22mpg average.
Car 2. £30 tax next year, 60mpg average.

I never thought the fuel would bother me but now I cringe if I take Car 1 out and watch the fuel guage go down.
