Here goes !!

Arsenal cannot do it unless Arsene Wenger leaves

Manchester United have done it more than any other British club.

Everton, Charlton and Oldham have done it, but Wimbledon will never do it unless Crystal Palace go bankrupt.

Manchester United did it in 1992. Aston Villa did it at their 1st attempt. Tottenham, Wolves, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester City and West Ham have all done it.

Liverpool did it in an unusual way.

No one did it last season.

No one is expected to do it this season.

What is it ??

Don't see how it can be hosting rugby matches

Isn't the McAlpine stadium home to Huddersfield footbal and rugby clubs. If/when Wimbledon move to Milton Keynes (or anywhere) they would be able to host a rugby match regardless of the financial status of Crystal Palace.

I can't see it being hosting rugby matches, as Hunslet played all their home matches at Elland road for AGES in the 80's

Question

Doesn't Old Trafford host the Rugby League play-off Final each year? Therefore it was done last season and will be done this season.

Yep - It says Leeds have done it

probably why Man U have done it more than anyone else.

Silent monkey - If we reword the answer to 'host rugby matches at their current ground' will you accept the answer?

Sorry Fast Bloke, but your answer now falls down on the statements that:

No one did it last season.
No one is expected to do it this season.

I can't see how because Man United hosting a final every year for the last 10 years or so can compete with 14 matches a year when Hunslet played at Elland Road, AND the Yorkshire Cup Final which was held at Elland Road every year.

The following answers have been suggested, although none work exactly:
(a) Play home games "away" whilst owning your own ground
(b) Beat a side managed by Arsene Wenger on your own ground
(c) Host rugby league
(d) Play reserve matches at a rugby league ground
(e) Stage an international for a home nation

Hosted Rugby League mathces.

Arsenal cannot do it unless Arsene Wenger leaves.
Arsene Wenger has said "no" to a proposed move of the Silk-Cut Challenge cup final from Wembley to Highbury

Manchester United have done it more than any other British club. Man U have been hosting Rugby League for years. The McAlpine stadium has only been open since 1996 AFAIK. The Yorkshire Cup is held at Headingly on occasions. Hunslet used to play at the greyhound stadium on Elland road. This is now a carpark for the Elland Road Stadium and they play at South Leeds Stadium on Middleton Grove

Everton, Charlton and Oldham have done it, but Wimbledon will never do it unless Crystal Palace go bankrupt.
Everton and Oldham have staged Rugby League games and the London Broncos used to ground share the Valley with Charlton. Meanwhile Wimbledon wanted to ground share with the London Broncos, but it's not their ground, and Crystal Palace said no

Manchester United did it in 1992. Aston Villa did it at their 1st attempt. Tottenham, Wolves, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester City and West Ham have all done it.

Liverpool did it in an unusual way.
In the 2000 Rugby League World Cup, Anfield staged a friendly games for the Australian team to get some practice in (so a non-competitive game and hence not in the usual way).

No one did it last season and no one is expected to do it this season.
Yorkshire cup was at Headingly in 2001 and should be in 2002. Man U refused to allow any matches after getting beaten in the FA Cup due to the ground condition after a rugby league match

11th November 2000

Rugby league World Cup Quarter final was held at Vicarage Road, Watford. Reading, Huddersfield and others were also used for this competition.

I make this to have been last season

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the season open at the start of March? If so the above statement does not refer to last season. BTW - Old Trafford will now host a match in October, so the question is no longer valid

What season starts in March? Certainly not Association Football.
We are today in the 2001/2002 season, November 2000 was in the 2000/2001 season, last season.

Regardless of which season that was, you mentioned London Broncos they played at the Valley on Sept 8th 2001.

October will actually be NEXT season so has no bearing on the question.

Just don't believe the answer has anything to do with rugby, I seriously doubt now that there is an answer that stands up to all the criteria

Rugby League season starts on 1st March.

OK, the question doesn't specify which sport the "season" is referring to and I'll ignore which season is "this season" when the next season doesn't start untill 1st March and presumably the last one has finished

But which season is/was 8th Sept 2001 in?

If it's "this" or "last" then the answer is not any of the 3 variations on rugby you've tried so far.

Only the Super League season starts on March 1st. The lower divisions (Northern Ford Premiership and below) have returned to the old 'winter' season which runs pretty much the same time as the football season. Also, the Challenge Cup competition still takes place over the winter months and includes teams from the Super League.
