Default Tescos - Offer on Energy Saving bulbs

Don't know if this is everywhere or just Tesco, but they were doing Energy saving bulbs at a quid and on a two for one, so 50p each, we had a few but I decided to do the whole lot, have now replaced all but a couple with energy savers so lets see if it makes any difference to the bill, was worth a tenner to do, just need to get used to the delay on turning the light on.

Hopefully will save a few quid and the arsing about changing them, the ones in the living room were popping every couple of months and there are five of them.

I wonder if they are being subsidised ?

I got a couple from Tesco last week. They are quite dim, in comparison to the traditional ones. They don't give enough lumination. Then again, at least they save money.

No idea if they are subsidised.

You'll find after a couple of minutes of use, they put out as much light as a conventional bulb.

lux levels are completely different, unless you aim higher with the replacement bulb. then of course, the tones are very different too (as with the difference between a conventional lamp and an LV lamp)

Flightman, they seem not so bright to me even after a couple of minutes of warm up. I don't mind. I will <have to> get used to it

BG sent me a box of 4 in summer, I had to fill no survey. May be, now they are offering survey deal to people too.

swapped a lot of mine last year for the led ones, they do give out a bit less light, but you get used to them quite quickly

they use 1.5watts each (have 8 in the living room)

our bills have tumbled in price quite a bit
