attaching signs to lamposts etc
you know the type, someones allways strapped one to a lampost at a junction etc.
is it something you can be penalised criminally for doing? im presuming its a form of fly posting?
basicly if i stuck 50 up in my area would i just get a verbal bollocking at first or is it a police matter etc?
secondly erm..... whats the best way to attatch one? all i can think of is laminated a4 size with some holes in so can cable tie it to the post???

I lost my parrot a few years ago. I put up a few posters around. I had someone ring me up and leave a message because I had 'raped a tree' by putting a pin through the poster into it. They then continued to wish that the same happened to me and I die a horrible death.
People eh?

I have done it in the past. I got a call from the council saying they had taken them down (a few months later) and did I want them back. I think if you keep doing it they may take action.

My friend put some notices up on lamposts, advertising a local arts and crafts 1 day event.. iirc they were put up 3 days in advance of the event, and were due to be taken down on the evening it finished.. but the local council removed them the next day. They then phoned her and told her if they were found up again, she would be fined!!

Advertising on the highway is an offence and the highway authority can recover all costs associated with their removal. Basically if you're putting 50 up you're really asking for trouble. Putting them on railings next to crossings is a really bad idea, what chance has a child and driver got of seeing each other? Also at A4 size any information on the poster will not be visible to car drivers anyway.
