Question

Front wheel drive car?

A friend thinks its a mini I am not so sure.

I don't think your friend was correct. The American "Christie" car company produced front wheel drive cars with transverse engines from 1904 onwards - including a V4 engined racing car without a gearbox .

In the UK Alvis and BSA produced FWD cars in the twenties, as did Citroen and Audi on the continent.

Don't know who was first though ..

The first front wheel drive car was definitely a citroen, closely followed by a VW.

I'll post proof soon.

The mini was the first mass produced front wheel drive car with transvere engine. This was revolutionary because it was the most compact arrangement, and was a first in a mass producted thing

I believe the mini was the first car with a transverse engine. There are cars with FWD pre-dating the mini.
