Just because they can afford expensive cars, doesn't mean they should be any happier about paying VED.
If the new rates go ahead, I reckon loads of people won't cough up, on principle Should be fun

Without the media scare tactics about the CC, everyone would have carried on as normal, but most folk have tightened their belts, me included, "just in case".

the most annoying thing I find with the increased VED rates is that it does nothing to do with global warming etc, its just another excuse to screw the motorist for more money.
If its really done in a way to reduce co2 emmisions then it has to be based on the no of miles per year, not engine size / how much car polutes per mile.
If not like we see the benefits of the road tax - ie the money spent on the roads is it ?

"I'm also frankly amazed that hundreds of motorists who can afford to run very expensive cars such as BMWs and Porsches have been found not to have had a valid road fund tax licence."
Dealer offered me £4K for our old one upon trade in.

This lot get very upset if you don't pay them the tax of any kind that they feel is due to them. They will jump up and down and sue you at the drop of a hat and send you to clink just like that!

If they crush a car then they won't get any VED revenue from it next year
Still, with all the revenue from fines they should be able to reduce the VED rate for all of us regular payers

Unless there are a load of 645s being driven round that London or Surrey with no tax on. And in that case, I bet most are on finance or lease purchase anyway, so the driver won't care either way.

Not many of them to be fair, the majority on the road are poverty versions of the 320d (poor man's mondeo, or is that the other way round, LOL ).
