Default Fitting a Virgin V+ box

Just considering buying a V+ box on ebay, I already have Virgin TV installed with their standard box, Virgin quote £150 for a box from them but they are under £50 on Ebay.
Is it just a case of plugging it in and putting my card in the box anyone know?
I'm not interested in the HD box as I don't even have an LCD tv never mind a HD one! lol
I just want the box so I can record programs and not have to get a seperate recorder under my TV.
Thanks

Well, I just had V+ installed. And it stopped working an hour after the installer left. Saying the card was not valid.

I had to phone and go through Virgin tech support to re-pair the card to the box (which worked).

So going on that I would say you would have to go through the same procedure to get your old card to work with your new box. (as in pairing the box to the card).

Also trying haggling with Virgin...our V+ box (HD version, we don't have a HD tv either) cost £75 including install.

Pretty much ended up going to cancelations, giving a list of problems and what Sky were willing to offer me if I subscribed to them.

It was helped by the fact my internet (and consequentally the Tv's On-demand and interactive TV service) was up and down like a yo-yo. I kept logs of everytime I used the computer to find the internet off-line or on-demand not working and how long for.

AFAIK all boxes still belong to Virgin, so I wouldn't buy one off ebay, it doesn't belong to the seller. People get confused because you pay Virgin for the right to rent the box; it's not like sky where you buy the box.
