It's as good as cash, if it's a genuine bankers draft - and as you watched it being written it is genuine!

Find a relaxing chair, sit down, light a cigar and RELAX!! You have your money!

Yes they can be stop under certain circumstances. You should have had him do a transfer direct to your account. Then you wouldn't be postinig on here worrying.

Wifey told me about them being able to be cancelled (she's in banking) but she's not here at the mo' so I can't ask her how they are stopped.

If its a genuine buyer, and you went to his bank with him, where they then gave him the draft and he handed it over to you, then its more than likely going to be ok.

You spoke to the Bank Staff while you were there, and they assured you it was all ok. . . . . . In that case, relax and don't worry about it.
The buyer can't tell his bank the draft has been lost or stolen so don't worry.

Bradford and Bingley are 10x deeper in the poo than the HSBC.

LOL

DunxC

P.S. All the finished houses (that had been sold) on this development have gone back on the market this week. Twenty or so three storey houses that were about £235,000 are sat empty and have been since Easter !

The Housing Market (changing original subject, as the bankers draft is safe!) is in a right mess!

I'm looking to buy, builders are begging me to buy, Estate Agents are ringing me every day (sometimes 4 times in a day!) begging me to view/make an offer!!

I am being asked to step into failed chains - at a price to suit me ..... errrrr, no, not while the houses are losing £150 every 24 hours!!

Bankers drafts can't bounce, but they can theoretically be stopped if they are lost or stolen.

Trust me, pretty much any financial agreement these days can be retracted bankers drafts, BACS transfers and in special circumstances even CHAPS transfers. If the guy wants it back, he would be able to get it back it he tried hard enough and new the system.

Judging by the fact you were present when it was created though, I would imagine there is a certain amount of goodwill there which should mean the guy is genuine.

Hope it goes through OK. :

he can only report it lost / stolen, but you have presented it so basicly it means the chap it was issued to has deposited it, so its not lost stolen.

not unless he gos to old bill says you beat 9 bells out of him and took the draught lol

Can anyone explain to me why "MickeyTake" was infracted? I can't see anything in his post to justify it.
