Default Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjacks in Venezuela.....

........As I had been predicting over the last few years, the Cold War is back!

Venezuela has become the Russian butt buddy in South America.

The have the resources to do what they want......so they do it!

TU-160s in Venezuela - PPRuNe Forums

New equipment bought off the Russians since the sanctions imposed by the Yanks:

Not to mention:

"Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is expelling the US envoy to Caracas, amid an escalating regional diplomatic row.

Mr Chavez said US ambassador Patrick Duddy had 72 hours to leave, adding the move was in solidarity with Bolivia.

It came just hours after Washington ordered out the Bolivian ambassador, in response to its own envoy being told to leave Bolivia.

Bolivia accuses the US envoy of inciting growing violent protests against President Evo Morales. "

Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Amazing sound from these aircraft. Imagine Concorde on take-off x 2 and you're pretty much there.

Will this effect my 4 day week, or the price of fuel?

Farnborough airshow a few years ago.

The sound waves got so bad, people were picking up kids and running away from the fence.
The video I took completely broke up and I ended up listening to hiss and watching a black screen when I got home. As the plane rolled down the runway, the picture and sound came back.

What goes around, and all that

The Americans have been screwing around in the internal affairs of their southern neighbours for decades. Maybe now they'll think twice (or even once would be a novelty) before interfering

Well they are still thinking about invading Iranoraqgistan are they not?

Maybe they have grown averse to jungles, they only invade mostly desert countries.

An Su-30...hmmm, did not even know these existed. The last Su plane I was aware of was the Su-27. I guess the Su-30 is basically an Su-27 but with full thrust vectoring?

Also, why does the fuselage of this plane extend past the exhaust nozzles? The bit that is sitting between them looks as if it would get pretty damn hot pretty damn fast. What do they have mounted there that they cannot put somewhere else?

Another variant of the SU-27 family.

As for the "sting" it is used to house electronic warfare equipment, or as in one variant, a rearwards facing radar!

Wow, that is pretty impressive considering the proximity to a pair of very large afterburners!! You'd think whatever went in there would come out nicely roasted!

I'd like to see those planes go up against the F22 and Eurofighter in mock battles just to see how all the technology performs. It would be interesting to see how it all pans out as the designs are very different.

It is an excellent plane; it has range, power, payload capability that few have, very good radar, and the list goes on.

The variant in this picture has side by side seating:

This gives an idea of how the TV nozzles look like, and the "sting".

Chavez is also selling fuel to his population for less than 10p a litre. The yanks are now looking for alternatives to South American oil supplies. Cuba is spent, so time for a bit of stick shaking.

The Bear is concerned about the new air defence system being deployed in it's back yards. Think reverse Cold War. NATO on a push, but toothless, think Georgia.

But while the Bolivian Marching dust is still being pumped out the yanks will want some!

A mate of mine was on holidays there several months ago, the price of "gas" was 2 (euro) cents per litre!

I can't even buy gum for that price here!
