Really ! he was around a while, he did loads of documentaries about industrial heritage and was a Steeplejack (A bloke that fixes and demolishes chimneys), he is fairly well known and has been mentioned on here numerous times (well at least twice)
He died a couple of years back of cancer, his shows are on constant rotation on UK History, usually about Steam Engines, Traction Engines, Canals and that kind of thing.
Mainly famous for knocking huge Chimneys down and only just getting out of the way in time, emrging from the smoke/dust to say "Yer Like That", seemingly unmoved that he had nearly been flattened by several thousand tonnes of rubble, also to be seen dangling on some ropes and old ladders 200 ft up.
Compelling Stuff, I think, how anybody can watch Big Brother when there is stuff like that available I will never know !

Good ol' Fred Would be rather cool to own his old place. Wonder if any of the traction engines and other stuff are lying around in the back yard.

I am reading his biography at the moment. He was a real character and he dragged himself up by by his bootstraps by dint of sheer hard work and application. I was very sorry when he died, and he was very brave about the whole thing as well.
