I've always fancied an iphone but don't want to change to O2, and i can't be bothered to import/unlock one.

Is the i900 a decent alternative ?

Been looking at them myself but still cant bring myself to do it lol.

Compare phones - GSMArena.com

Good way to compare them though, the Omnia gets a lot of love. Would be my choice of the 2 devices.

PS one of its "faults" is highlighted in that image you posted..... Daylight screen visibility.

Personally the N96 would be my choice as I refuse to accept the future is touch screen. I love keypads lol.

Gone for the E71 on this account upgrade but due a couple more soon, so might yet give into temptation to something like this.

BUT......... if I was going for a touch screen device, it would be the Omnia, or the up and coming Nokia version, when they finally give it the green light.

Good call, thats what I usually end up doing with top end phone. Try, dont like, sell and replace with something else.

Or more recently try a few out before settling with the handset I like. Sending the others back within the 7 days

Let me know how you get on with it. Might get one next month if they are as good as the reviews say.

Im too tight to spend 35 quid plus for that or the iphone ( with not enuff minutes) - probably my mistake ..!

Thought id go for the HTC touch at 10 cheaper - but settled again for K810i for 10 cheaper again

i got one at the moment, its ok... battery is not bad, has tonnes of features. only thing that is bad is the processor speed which can be really slow when you running several programs. plus playing high quality divx or mp4 is really bad too

I know two people who 'had' them, one was even gloating that it would put my iPhone to shame when he received it, they have iPhones now.

Friend's got one and it seems like a quite decent phone. Comparing it to an iphone, I think an iphone will always win hands down... but if you're using it just for phone calls and internet then it's definetly a decent phone to have.

Am I right in saying that the iphone cannot send mms?

Also the 2mp camera puts me off when Samsung are releasing 8mp+ phones

Correct, the iPhone cannot send MMS and good riddance, what it can do is construct perfectly formatted email with embedded photos. And yes it's true that not everyone can receive email on their phone, but I know what I'd rather have.

The camera is perfectly acceptable for the occasional snap, don't be fooled by the number of pixels.

I can't get the hang of touch screen phones.

I'm going out soon to buy the Samsung G600 in pink though lol, I reserved it earlier coz they said it's been quite popular, the price is really good and it has a 5 megapixel camera, better than our digi cam!

I like the look of that touch screen Samsung though but i would take me another 6 months to figure it out!

Just checked both of these out at CPW...

Basically lots of similarities with the main differences being that the samsung is Windows based with the iphone being Mac based.

Iphone can't record videos, nor can it send mms as well as having a 2mp camera.

The iphone has a proper web browser, whereas the Samsung is partially wap based so not a "proper" browser...

Samsung seemingly has a less sensitive screen and the wand is a pita...

In short, I'm no further forward!
