Question

I'm looking to buy a laptop this weekend. I'm going to be getting rid of my home computer which is way way too slow (I bought it in 1996).
The reason I want a laptop over a desktop computer is so that I can use it at home and at uni.

A friend has just bought an Acer 212TE from Currys, which can be seen at:
http://www.currys.co.uk/store/martprd.dll/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@2093681654.101312959 2@@@@&BV_EngineID=cadcdekmijdkbedcfgmcfckf.0&page= Product&sku=481905

For £699 (the price of the 212TE) is there a better laptop availabe on the market?

I'll basically be using it for Word documents, making and viewing Excel documents, browsing the internet and perhaps to retrieve the photos off my digital camera.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Andy.

Nearly forgot...

It would help if I could be able to connect it to the uni network and so therefore must allow me to insert a network card.

That kinda price leaves little choice from the big players, but check www.dell.co.uk/outlet for cancelled orders etc...

Thumbs up

Dell laptops are pretty good, work has 12 of them, generally v. reliable and the customer service is a lot better (now!). Prices and specs pretty good.
