Default Sick pay-whats legal entitlement?

Ok a quick question for you HR or legal people please.

My girlfriend is a manager of a day nursery and she wants to know is she entitled to normal sick pay( as in her normal weekly wage) not just ssp?

That depends on her contract of employment.

My mrs worked for an NHS agency for nearly a year and still got ssp for even 1 day, after the first year, got one week at a full pay.

I get 6 months full, 6 month half, topped up to full by a separate insurance (provided by work)

Well what she wants to know is this - as a manager should she be entitled to full pay or is just treated same as any other employee and if her contract says that she just gets SSP is that it?

Entirely down to contract, if being a manager means extra benefits written into the contract it'll be in there, if it isn't - no legal requirement.

Her position has nothing to do with it. What she is entitled to depends absolutely on her contract of employment. She will get exactly what is stated there, nothing less and nothing more.

I wouldn't know for sure, but I would have thought, whatever the company policy is, would apply to all staff regardless of their position, management or not. I think that is how it works at my place.

Every company tends to have different rules on this. I believe, I get 6 months full pay (as in more or less the same as my weekly wage). I know of people who only get SSP, and so on, I do think it is just totally dependent on company policy. She needs to just ask, so she knows where she personally stands.
