What does America make?
Filling the car up I noticed the hose said 'Made in America' (Goodyear though for some reason?)
Was thinking to myself I can't think what the heck else I have seen that on.I'm sure there are a million things but I can't think of one Bud? Anything else good from USA?
(Not including things made in sweatshops)
*Edit* forgot Zippo !

America like most modern Western socities (i.e. us) has out-sourced quite a lot of the manufacturing they used to do. Preferring instead to be the 'thinkers' and 'creators' of the world and letting others put things together.
As above, 'planes, cars to a certain extent and they grow a high proportion of their own food (I know that isn't 'made' but that is where the menial jobs are).
As part of the recession quite a few goods are starting to be made in America again as the cost of shipping is wiping out the labour gains made in China.

Not much actually in the USA, and like 'Made in Britain' a lot of the product parts are actually made in China, then assembled in a different country.
With all these countries moving all their manufacturing over to China, they are going to be stuffed if China suddenly decide to declare war on the West.
Its very short sighted as the more the Chinese get exposed to Western culture, the more they want to be consumers, and their wages will have to rise to meet this. Once that happens the manufacturing costs will rocket ( exactly as happened with 'Made in Japan' and 'Made in Hong Kong' in the past ).
Only places left after that with cheap labour are India and Africa, and neither have the infrastructure to support large scale production.

Of course the West is going to make hay while the sun shines and there is little point in not taking advantage of the situation just because it can't last forever.

The filler in my toilet cistern (fluidmaster). Also the "shop vac" in the office (cheepo after the Henry died) proudly states "made in USA"
Usually cheap low quality stuff like that would be found made in asia.

The biggest thing America makes is WAR ! Even if there isn't a war, they can make one, and thus sell lots of bombs and guns and bullets, and after they've levelled a country they can send in their people to rebuild it, all in the name of democracy.

Alot of archery equipment is made in the US, as are alot of knives and already mentioned firearms (military and sporting).
Apart from planes, some motorbikes, the odd push bike and cars, that about all I can think of.

Completely pointless and poorly designed/manufactured rolling 1920s irrigation pump lifestyle accesories called Harley Davidson !
Next time you see one take a real close look at the quality workmanship, a drunken blind man could do better
The sad thing is that having not changed the basic (****e) design for about 50 years they still find muppets willing to purchase the heaps of ****
Thank god for the Japs

America's manufacturing base is enormous, but they don't export much to countries like the UK. We'd probably see more automotive stuff than anything, unless you're a farmer - they make lots of agricultural machinery too.

When I worked for Timberland they were proud that their footwear was manufactured in the US. Clothing was made in the Far East.
When I worked in the electrical trade, some suppliers, like Sharp, were proud that their goods were still made in their Japanese factories. Many others had moved to China.
Now, the company I work for has considerable manufacturing in China, but are not increasing capacity there. New factories are in Vietnam and (soon to be) Indonesia. This will be for lower tech or simpler products. Higher tech goods will still be made in China for the foreseeable future.
