I mean...you would think banks would WANT you, on principle, NOT to disclose personal info to cold callers! But no! The tw@ts from Northern Rock, who gave me a withheld and unsolicited call again today, requested: 'Hi I'm June from Northern Rock and I just need your address, postcode and date of birth before we can discuss the mail we sent you recently'.... Certainly June, would you like my PIN number, keys to my car and details of my Swiss bank account too???!!!

Whilst they 'understood' why I was not compliant, by calling thery actively encourage people to get scammed and give strangers personal details. RIDICULOUS!

Thank you.

Last time this happened, I complained and got a letter of apology.

This was from MBNA where someone who could barely speak English called me and ask for details.

Yes mate - those are the others that prompted this rant. No matter how many times you suggest it is bad practice, they still call! D

Hi David!

I'm Diesel from Goldfish - as you may know we have been taken over all Barclays, TSB, Abbey, MBNA and RBS credit cards and so now operate one of your credit cards.

In order to offer you our fantastic 2% cashback, and purely for security and verification reasons (as demanded by the data protection act and banking code of conduct), could you please PM me your mobile number, mothers maiden name and current postcode?

Many thanks and hope you enjoy your cashback!
