Its the bit you spend all day looking at, and yet so many people upgrade the computer and not the screen...

Madness, if you still have a CRT monitor get out there and buy a replacement!

I'm running 2 x 22". Kinda wish I'd gone for a single 24" to get that extra resolution (stuck with 1680x1050) and then maybe added another later.

I have a Iiyama Vision Master Pro 19" CRT, it displays a rock solid picture (85Hz) at 1600x1200, excellent brightness and contrast. Not a dead pixel insight Don't know of many LCDs that can compete with that so I'll be sticking with it for now thank you. Does take up a bit of room on the desk though

22" here

I do actually miss my 21" Hitachi CRT monitor though, as it had higher resolution (1800x1350 vs 1680x1050 of the current LCD ) better blacks/greys and more accurate colour reproduction. But it was foofin' huge, and the red cathode was getting a bit weak. Final nail was the focus circuitry was getting a bit temperamental.

I had one of those, upgraded it to a Viewsonic 21" and now have a Hyundai 24" LCD. I can assure you, no matter what you think you are wrong.

LOL, well a man has to have some nice things every now and then

Cracking bit of kit, mine is rammed up to the hilt with 4 GB of ram, extra large HD and has around £5000 of software on it (it helps being in the industry) . Attached to it is around 3TB of storage for video's etc and it is all linked up to an Apple TV for some nice viewing

One of the best bit of Apple kit I have owned and believe me I have had them all from my first mac classic (ah the memories), LC475 with 4MB of ram...wow , through the performa's to this. Quality, size and spec, this has to be about the best per cost, although my aging PB 15" comes a close second.

oh, and have one of those Mac Pro's at work

I have a 15" G3 PB Pismo running 400mhz with 320mb, and it used to have just a 9.8gb HDD until I popped in a secondhand 55gb. Still running perfectly after nearly 9 years but I think I'm going to accidentally drop it down the stairs to aid the upgrade I used to have every bit of software going installed, but trimmed it down when I reinstalled after the HDD upgrade as I simply never used them. Keep CS2 and Quark (I work in print, publishing and graphics) to hand but I mostly surf, d/l movies and play about these days so just don't need much.

Me too. Got mine as soon as it come out. I must say I wouldn't care how big a screen was if I had to look at a windows operating system on it. Windows are so back in time. Mac rules

Samsung, and it cost around 170 pounds, with discount, which was nice!

I'll get back on the model, out of the house at the mo.

Quark. In ID's early days we had a lot of rip and postscript issues so avoided it and even though it's much better now I never went back. Lots of designers are using it now and it still causes us headaches, mostly with transparent layers which upset the rips (Prinergy). I don't get involved much in page design and layout, mostly just handling others finished PDF's. Most of my DTP work is for myself or guvvy jobs

Oh, and I have FIVE MacPro's lined up

Hows the colour reproduction on that one? We have a 20" one in our office and the colour is awful on it, very poor for an Apple really!! We also have a previous generation one thats 20" and much better.

I have a 24" Dell at home and it's awesome, trying to get an upgrade at work from a 20" Dell (which is horrible for colour no matter how much I fiddle with the settings) to a 24" Dell but they don't seem too interested, they said why dont I just have another 20" for dual screen.... yes, great, but that doesn't help with the poor colour does it...

It's a Samsung Syncmaster 2493 HM.

It's also got quite nice 10,000:1 contrast.
