I just think teachers aren't the best anymore.I enjoyed the comment about kids spend more of their time preparing for Red Nose day at school
(mind you,the replies turn into a scoobynet thread where the person below corrects the previous poster's spelling/grammar )

I think it would be sad if we let "anything go", but then i'm the biggest spelling **** i know. The number of times you see definately instead of definitely, loose instead of lose, to instead of too, it's instead of its, and so on and so on, even on Scoobynet, does my head in. I'm in the minority of people who care these days.

Same here.
There's nothing wrong with keeping standards up.
I often go through CVs that my wife recieves from potential, and supposedly 'educated' people, and the amount off grammar and simple spelling errors amazes me.
One single error means the CV gets binned, regardless of the calibre of the person applying.

In all seriousness, my spelling and grammar may not be perfect, but at least I make the effort, and those errors I make are often highlighted by Firefox
What's next, allow l33t style language in exams? It's the English language. We should make the effort to maintain standards. No, I'm not suggesting it should stand still, as it would stagnate. Language should evolve, but not through slipshod educational standards.

Twas.
I assure ye. And some fools fell into my trap..........
Anyway, it's not about picking people's posts apart, but the dumbing down of spelling and grammar.

I care. I always insist that my children both speak and write correctly. To the extent that I'm probably annoying: I make them say the end of words, wont let them use slang like "kid" etc...

I think its more the text speak that's annoying, poor spooling is one of my flaws so I'm going to stick up for that admittedly i do use the google spool checker, on my tool bar so i shouldn't have too many excuses

1. Your kids are really going to rebel. Tats, piercings, gangster slang - the lot.
2. Email and txt spk must really irritate you then!
