Commuter thrown onto live rails by thugs
What a callous and evil act - who could do such a thing and all for being asked not to smoke!
I hope that the little b@stards are caught and charged with attempted murder - i fear more like a smack on the wrists and a weeks community service.
Commuter Thrown Onto Live Rails - Yahoo! News UK
A woman has been seriously injured after she asked two youths to stop smoking at a Kent railway station - and was thrown onto the tracks in response.

British Transport Police said the woman was lucky not to be instantly killed because the "live" rail was carrying 750 volts of electricity.
She suffered burns and a suspected broken collar bone when hitting the tracks and was rushed to hospital.
The woman was on her way to work during the morning rush hour when she was assaulted at Farningham Road station by the youths.
The scuffle started after she asked them to stop smoking on the platform, where it is illegal to light up.
She was then thrown onto the track - from where fellow passengers to pull her to safety.
Train services between Kent and London were disrupted while power to the lines was switched off.
Police are investigating the incident, which was caught on CCTV, and were said to be following up a number of leads.
A spokesman for the South Eastern rail network said: "We are appalled by this incident and hope the perpetrators are quickly identified."

As for your topic, thats pretty shocking. Wonder if they'll actually manage to catch em though.

Surprised they're not doing her for Trespassing.
Thanks to New Labours soft touch on crime, these things will happen more and more. Criminals and general scum know nothing more than a fine or a slap on the wrists will be issued should they be caught.
You get fined more for having your wheely bin slightly a jar, than you do for shoplifting.

I REALLY hope that when they are caught, they are charged with attempted murder as throwing someone onto live rails can only be construed as that.
That's another thing I like about the American justice system - if you attempt to ram someone with a car, then it's attempted murder. None of this namby pamby dangerous driving slap on the wrist lark. Jail, 15 years - guard your ****.

What utter scum, I wish oh wish they were thrown onto some live rails in front of a large train as punishment. Certainly this must be deal with as attempted murder. Why are these people not made to work hard to provide for their own food and lodgings.

It really is an awful tale, what on earth is happening that these louts are prepared to do something like that I wonder.
It really is time the courts went back to giving the sort of sentence to suit the crime, in this case attempted murder is close enough to the mark. This sort of thing will continue to get even worse until the police change their attitude and go for people like this and the courts give them harsh enough sentences to make them think that the punishment is so unpleasant that the crime it not worth committing!

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Anyway, what were the other passengers on the platform doing while this was happening? Surely someone should've stepped in before she even came close to being thrown onto the rails?

Ok, I just read the article - tells a bit of a different story to the headline
Detective Inspector Bob Richardson, of the BTP, said: "It would appear the woman had spoken to the men about smoking earlier this week.
"This morning when she was at the station, she was walking past the same men when one of them pushed her and she fell onto the track.
"She suffered a fractured wrist and bruising to her legs. She was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released.

conscience.
do these youths have one?
this country is getting worse by the minute.
every generation performing more viscious and violent acts.
i live in inverness, recently there was a man jailed for thirteen years for an unprovoked stabbing on a city street which resulted in the victim losing his life. the victims family were disgusted at the sentence.
if the perpertrators are caught what sentence will they get?
if they do go to jail, it will be free food, drink, drugs, satellite TV, gymnasium and playstation. more than what they recieve at home.
past and present governments have encouraged these types to evolve.
with "human Rights" acts and political correctness.
i'm afraid to say, i can only see these events becoming more common.
to be honest i feel that the death penalty for violent and sexual crimes and paedophilia should be re-introduced.
there is a negative side to this i.e. the case of Mr Barry George.

Where were they when the scuffle broke out
TX.
Edit - just read article ... "thrown" on to track seems a tad harsh when she was actually "pushed" the day after she challenged the youths. Why walk past them on the track side ... Let's face it, they'll never get done for attempted murder (this is the UK after all).

Having worked in the rail industry for some time it is not so uncommon for people to be pushed on to the track, mostly by strangers when ever i am at a main line station or the tube i always stand with my back against the wall and wait for the train to go past.
My advice is never stand near the platform edge just so you can get on the train first as this is where the local nutcase could launch you off it!
Better no seat than dead.
