Constructive accounting:

has the shop that goes with it got any bigger each time??
1 garage round my way, you pay 4k pa to run it, take nothing from the petrol but make your $$ on what you put in / sell in the shop.

The Shell garage on the dome roundabout in Watford is so badly run they probably don't make any profit. Must be some sort of moron in charge there.

Nope, just new forecourt, pumps, surface, shelter.......YOU know, the bits they "make no money out of".
Like UK insurance companies have made no profit out of car insurance in the last 4 years.............that's why EVERY adverts has at least ONE company offering God only knows what to get your business, and so much junk masil from Ins companies that it'd make your head spin, and it's been like that for years. Liars, just liars!
