Default Paypal:Mastercard refused.

Ive not come across this before so any helpful advice would be appreciated. Ive bought a watch from an American seller and Im trying to pay by Paypal. Ive sucessfully used the card 30 or 40 times before through Payal. Upon trying to pay through the eBay page I come to an 'enter a card' page, which is unusual: Im certian that everyhting is as it should be, so Ive tried to pay directly through Paypal. When I enter the eBay item number Im asked for a card, the site is secure so I enter my MC number and the following message was displayed: 'You may not use MasterCard/Eurocard to fund this payment. Please add a different type of card or use a bank account'. Now that explains why I wasnt taken straight to the 'pay now' page as I only have a Mastercard registered, but Ive no real idea why this has happened. Can the vendor refuse MC or might it be a condition imposed on the account by Paypal: any insight welcomed...

Yeah, I've had this.
I basically never use paypal for anything - it is a complete waste of time.
This probably doesn't help you though

Are you sure your card number is valid? I had similar prob and thought seller had restricted paypal payments to maestro etc. When I checked with him he hadnt. Checked again and my mastercard was old one so expiry date had elapsed - paypal being as clever as it is didnt tell me this when trying to use it (got same message as you) or when the date actually elapsed some months previously.

I will try and be just as helpful.
PM me your MC details, expiry date and sig code and I will see if it works this end. Of course any transactions appearing on your card from " Inflatable Friends Inc" have nothing to do with me

Paypal don't like you to use credit cards to fund payments because of CC companies tendency to properly investigate claims.
They usually use the excuse of 'preventing money laundering' though

What I dont understand, is why the card wont work for this particular purchase. I bought 'Le Mans' & 'Grand Prix' on DVD the day before and Paypal was more than happy to use the card.....
