Good thing it won't land....The Pilot probably as he descended to 100 feet would realise that it's a real dump and not worth landing....

Cheers!

To anyone who lives near a real airport, you can actually watch it land and take-off at LHR, any day of the week!

Edited to add that the A380 model is just going up at the old Concorde roundabout. It's a tad larger than the Concorde model though.

It's the same size as a 737!!!

Yes, the approach over the Cheshire countryside is appalling, all tree's, country roads, big houses and the like....

I managed to get a photo of the first A380 alongside the Concorde at Filton early last year

And then the second A380 flew in during the summer - viewed from my office window

It's big.

Lol.
Some people just can't see the funny side..

Anyone know if it's coming to Exeter airport?
I live in the flight path so I'll need to be ready

Concorde used to come in now and again. God damn that thing was LOUD!

The red arrows are ace though. I'm about 5 miles out and on top of a hill so they're LOW when they come in.

I bet they will have to fit the wings before it goes to Manchester though.

They are (about 3 miles from where I work). They are then rowed to France by a team of hardy Welshmen.

Absolutely! How anyone can take someone from London calling anywhere else a dump seriously is astonishing.

I saw this one last week as we were parking up at Heathrow, I'm sure a nice plane spotter can identify the serial number

Does anyone know why it's being towed as opposed to driving under it's own steam? (Apologies for any incorrect terminology used but I'm not a plane geek )

I take it that was aimed at me Sal?

SIA's A380 is using a remote stand at the moment. Towing is primarily used for cost. It saves a heck of a lot of fuel, and noise, plus it's a damn site quieter. We like to be good neighbours.

We have 5 A380's at LHR at the moment: Reg's are:

9VSKA
9VSKB
9VSKC
9VSKD
9VSKE

All are A380-841 ( non winglets ) and use Rolls Royce Trent 940 engines.

Cheers FM, you are correct in your assumption

Do you happen to know the route that my flight took as it entered British airspace? I know we came across Wales (the pilot told us) and I identified a coast (I was sitting starboard side) then the next thing I knew we were over the City approaching LHR from the east which confused me immensely as I hadn't really noticed us banking that much. I grabbed my camera and started snapping as it's the first time I've flown in that way, I got some great snaps of the City and the Thames

Entered our radar coverage at 10:03:09 at 10915ft travelling at 289.6kts, just north of Kingsclere in Berskhire. Crossed the M3 at Frimely running a west to east track, then through the OCKHAM beacon, no holding. Turned N/W and croised over Addington south of Croydon. North over Beckenham and then N/E passing north of Steatham. Crossed the River Thames right over Wandsworth bridge and joined the ILS over Putney bridge.
Landed 27L at 10:19:50 secs.

I've emailed you a couple of plots.

Anyone know roughly what time the A380 is due at Liverpool? I live under the approach for 27. I know it's not landing, but I assume it will follow a normal approach?

As awesome as the A380 is, it still saddens me that people get excited over what is just a double decker bus in the sky.

Concord is still where its at and we don't even fly the thing anymore
