NHS Op left metal in my wrist
I had an operation back in 2004 to have my left wrist fused together will not bore you with why not very exiting but I had a rare bone disease.
These are the x-rays of the plate very impressive war wounds
Check out the piece of scalpel blade they left in there
Am just off to see a French Doctor to get a second opinion on it to see if it will be a problem later in life the Doc in the UK said it’s not an issue

Yeah I am little worried about it been there, just got back from the docs and he wants a specialist to take a look. They want my original file/x-rays from the UK bet they don’t let me have them very easily 
I did ask a solicitor about compensation and he said I may get a couple of thousand but as they admitted it was there best not to do anything as if I need another op because of it I would get a fortune.
It’s never set anything off in an airport yet
the plate and screws are titanium and the blade is too small I think.

I have a metal plate 3 inch long by inch plate in my wrist with 4 x inch long metal screws - I'll dig out the xrays at some point to check if I have any scapel blades sitting in there

In my case, yes.
It was used, basically as a base to regrow the bone after I had turned it into mush.
So, they put in the plate to put everything in the right place dropped in a bone graft from my hip and then screwed it all in place. Job done.
I was out of plaster in about 4 weeks, and had full movement back after about 6 months.

I have a stainless steel plate in my mouth,, its never triggered airport detectors yet.
My steel toe capped shoe's on the other hand, nearly earn't me some glove love once

Yeah apparently they may have to remove the plate at some point, some people develop a reaction to the over time bit they also did a bone graft from my hip to fuse the small bones together so even if the plate was removed the wrist would be fixed.

that was nice of them to leave that there... it makes you wonder what other things can be left(and have been left) which shouldnt have.

They knew they had left it in there first thing they told me when I came around the following day I wasn't up to taking info in when I woke up
but apparently the tried to get it out but where doing more harm than good getting to it When I complained later I was told by the surgeon that there are much older people with much bigger pieces of shrapnel inside them than that Like I should be grateful they didn't leave the whole thing in

Wrist got away without being plated, but this is what you get when you smash the same elbow twice, 20 years apart. The things that look like broken screws are, um, broken screws from when the first plate was taken out...

That reminds me of my sisters knee when it was all wired together when it was smashed into 4 parts, and her hand when it had pins in it..

And they managed to do all that without leaving anything behind
I take it the screws get that tight they jut snap off when they try to remove them

Yep. When I came out from the op after having the first lot taken out I had a footprint on my chest where the surgeon had gone for some extra leverage...
And that was private, too.
They use a large Tee bar and if they still won't go then they just chisel the heads off and leave them behind.

You would think it would be better and less painful just to grind or drill the heads off and not bothering raving the sh*t out of people.
Maybe that’s too easy
