Its not that much harder, although I dont know whether you can get a roro crossing, so youll probably be looking at a container (with associated handling costs at either end). HMC&E will want their cut when it lands, so youll need to engage the services of a customs agent. When the shippers, duties and charges have been paid you can collect it from the docks. Youll only need a simple SVA test (no E-SVA as its left hand drive) and then youll register it as any other new vehicle.....

My dad did a similar thing only it was a 2003 19ft Regal speedboat with 4.3 mercruiser engine and leg.The boat was imported to England so we could check it over etc and was shipped out of the country to avoid paying import duty etc. Also figure out the amount of duty etc you maybe paying because you might find the same new car cheaper
already for sale in England ( that's logic isn't it ).The boat was in a roll on roll off container. Also approximatly £5,500 to £6k was saved in the process and had only done around 20 hrs since new.

Nathan.

thanks for the advice so far folks, ive read somewhere it only costs about $1000 to ship to the UK, so i id image i could import a car a lot cheaper than what a company would charge me and i cant find the car i want already in the UK anyway.

My brother-in-law has just imported a Roush Mustang Convertible. PM me if you're interested and I can give you his email address.

Ok, so I know this is dodgy but what if he slapped UK plates on the car before it was sent so it looked as if it was already registered here?
