if people are stupid enough to pay the price then i have no sympathy - people should boycot the profiteers which will make them bring the prices back down

Hopefully he will soon be off, with all his books, to the VAT room at his local police station..... With HM C&E and the IR all one now: he is f*cked!

Why don't you expand on your comments here?

What exactly do you mean by them? Why wouldn't he be 'English' or even British as he's the owner of a fuel station in the UK. What makes you think he might not be?
Of course it isn't beyond the bounds of possibility that a person who isn't English might own a fuel station in England but what made you think he might not be?

I'd say he looks like a good old English WASP and wouldn't over-charge due to his good old English morals & principles.

Cool

I well remember a couple of garages near me profiteering during the 70's petrol shortage.

Six months AFTER the shortage, they both closed. People round here have long memories

Because it's common to find that the majority non-UK nationals appear on the whole to have no morale substance or sense of decency when it comes to small businesses or dealing with the public.....

Am I now a racist?

I imagine he will lose a fair bit of local custom when the strike has gone away, and they have used up their MOT vouchers!

I think a similar thing happened to a garage shown in the news during the strike in 2000. Garage had closed 6 months after the shortage as people did not forget.

So I've received 2 points for racism.... however the description was for xenophobic comments, which mean:

As with all phobias, a xenophobic person is aware of the fear, and therefore has to genuinely think or believe at some level that the target is in fact a foreigner. This arguably separates xenophobia from racism and ordinary prejudice in that someone of a different race does not necessarily have to be of a different nationality. In various contexts, the terms "xenophobia" and "racism" seem to be used interchangeably, though they can have wholly different meanings (xenophobia can be based on various aspects, racism being based solely on race and ancestry).
So by this I conclude that I couldn't be racist as for the reason highlighted above.... and I therefore intend to sue for defarmation of character

....or I may just have another "chocolate Hob-***" instead

I thought what DCI was saying as well but wouldnt post it as it serves no purpose, you think things but decide not to say anything, I suspect I wasnt the only one.

We all have preconceptions, whether we choose to voice them is another matter, however these are based on experience, now if every experience had been a positive one I would make assumptions otherwise, it wasnt just for the sake of it, maybe its a backhanded compliment regarding business acumen ?

As it is, I hope the person in question gets his Karma when all this nonesense dies down, like the ***** that charge ravers 5 quid for a bottle of water and turn the taps off in the bogs.

Think you should sue for deformation instead

A garage in Peartree, Derby near to where I used to work. I recall he put price up to around £1/ltr.
