Bike routes in Wales
Basically just after any suggestions from people. I've got the whole summer in front of me and just concentrating on a 14,000 word report is going to drive me insane, especially as most of the rest of the students have gone home so theres not much going on. I fancy getting back on my bike and was wondering if anybody could suggest any off-road/mix of on and off cycle routes? I'm based in Aberystwyth, and I know there's Nant-y-Arian not so far away (above my ability, for the time being anyway) plus a few runs around Mach (will be giving them a try), but was wondering if anybody could recommend/suggest any others?

I'm a big fan of coed llandegla but that's in north wales. Coed Y brenin's probably a bit too far north too!

We tend to go twice a year and i've ridden most of the North Wales trails and i always end up going back to the Marin Trail @ Betws y Coed. Superb mix of climing, sweeping fire road descents and technical single track.
I personally find Coed Y brenin a little too "man made"

If N-y-A is bit OTT at present, then I don't think you'd like the Marin or Penmachno. As mentioned by AVI, Llandegla is a good place. The blue could be your cup of tea and the red/black isn't that bad apart from certain sections like the Logshore. Have a look on Youtube as there quite a few vid's of Llandegla.
It might be worth looking for bits of the National Cycle Network - like this that starts in Aber. The CTC has a routes database on-line as well. I know some local councils often produce cycle route leaflets that take in quite back lanes and easy bridlepaths.

Coed Llandegla, Nant-yr-Arian, Brecon, Betws-y-coed and Coed-yr-Brenin are all worth a visit.

605 might have been a stretch with 450 for clearing the bike stage, another 155 on the run? Mind you, no buggering about with a canoe could have put it into contention...
