Althoiugh Mary Whitehouse was denigrated by many for the stand that she took about violence and degrading pornographic TV programmes etc., when we now see the depths that so many TV programmes and personalities descend to these days, it is pretty obvious that she was a far seeing person and could see what was going to happen if someone did not at least try to get a bit of moderation in what children in particular were like to see and be influenced by.

When we see what prats like Ross are likely to do using four letter words on open TV to describe that he would like to have sex with a married women for all to see and hear then it is difficult to imagine how bad it is likely to become in the future.

Sex and extreme violence are a bad influence on children whether on TV or computer games and although I would never advocate the repression of free expression, nevertheless there is a code of behaviour and the need for a bit of decent and responsible behaviour.

Les its called the watershed .

Its still up to the parent afaik to control television hours. I must admit even i whince slightly at Ross's ploy but the show is on lateish - and frankly i cant be asked to watch cos im shattered by then.

Unfortunatley Whitehouse was powerless to halt the wave of reality tv crap were served up today...!

Yes I am aware of the "watershed" of course, but that programme is available for anyone to see on BBC i or whatever it is called at any time of the day and the programmes are not censored for that sort of language etc.

I also think that making remarks and using that kind of language on TV was beyond the pale and he should have been severely censored for that kind of behaviour, watershed or not.
