Brown..Rubbish or just unlucky?
I don't believe he is unlucky.I thnk he is a great part to blame for numerous problems we are about to see unleashed on the UK.He created this economy and I don't think we are 'better placed than most counties to cope' or whatever it is they keep saying.
Totally false economy IMO and it is all grinding to a halt. How come most sensible people saw this would happen and knew whoever took the PM hot seat at this time would have loads of flack?
I love the sneaky things that were thrown into previous budgets coming into effect (or trying to) that were just totally wrong.10p job,the deferred 2p petrol job,the awful retrospective VED.
Sorry but, serves them right. Most arrogant bunch of Nanny state creating government I have ever known Mind you, looks like the whole country feels the same way

He's a 'tax and spend' chancellor/PM. just like any old Labour ones. It's just that he's been bale to 'disguise' things whilst we still had some growth. Now he's got next to nothing in the pot.
As for the 10p stuff, I reckon that was just incompetance on his/the treasury's part.

He has been there in the background for a long time so is in part culpable for the current situation, however he cme to power just as things were on the turn and most of the events were much, much bigger than the Prime Minister of a small island, to blame him may be to credit hm with more sway than he has on the world stage.
A lot of this would have happened anyway, China and India growing in economic might, 9-11, Sub Prime lending all had a hand in this.
What he can be blamed for is taxing the hard working to pay for the lazy, allowing too much immigration and crapping on the motorist from a great height, ok, green taxes, wonderful but the country needs more than 12 months to adapt away from 50 plus years of coming to rely on cars, the VED rise was cynical and unfair, again, thats really the party rather than Gordon Brown in isolation but the buck stops somewhere.
I think tey have underestimated how keen this country is on its cars, thats his main crime.

Yep.... mixture of two.......
Unlucky.... in the sense that he had to take over as prime minister when he did.... TB wanted to hold on to power until he had absolutely made everyone sick.
Rubbish.... well the country situation speaks for itself.......

Bit of both.
Some of the problems are of his own making, 10p tax for example.
The high price of a barrel of oil is beyond his control.
But he could reduce fuel duty accordingly to help.

He should at least scrap the VAT on fuel or put it down to 5% like it is on Gas/Electric.
Its ludicrous that we pay tax on tax, ie VAT on fuel tax duty.

VAT on fuel is EU mandated - sorry, but you would have to leave the EU to get that done....

Rubbish: His plans to create econmic growth and boom was based on short-sighted decisions. Possibly because he thought that by the time the conseqences of such recklessness came to fruition, Labour, and/or he wouldn't be in power and it would be someone elses mess. But his chickens came home to roost far earlier than he expected.
