Default Cyclists and roundabouts?

What is THE correct way for a cyclist to go round a roundabout?

As far as im aware, the cyclist should go round the edge of the roundabout regardless of the desired turnoff?

Or should they use them cycle paths that take you across each turn off and back onto the main road?

Theres a big roundabout on my way to work that has those small cycle paths between each turnoff.
I always use the paths to avoid being flattened by blind motorists (particularly foreign lorry drivers and taxis). Only ones I see going right round the outside are lycra clad tour de france lookalikes.
As far as i'm aware thats exactly what the paths are for

They should go anti clockwise if they don't want to use the paths that millions of pounds have been spent on for them.

That should spice it up a bit!

Btw, popcorn anyone?
