Garden Trampoline - What to look for when buying?
Hi,
We are looking at buying a garden trampoline (either 12ft or 14ft). Does anyone have any recommendations of makes, or what to look for in terms of springs, materials, etc? We are spending approx 200 pounds.
Some we have been looking at are..
Sport & Leisure UK Ltd - Trampolines - AirKing 14ft trampoline with safety enclosure
BounceNow | 14ft PREMIER Package EXTRA Strength Enclosure + Free Ladder & Cover | TrampolinesFirst.com
14ft Trampoline and Safety Enclosure Trampoline Package Deal
Cheers

Thanks. We will definitely be getting a safety net. I've been told that it's best to have more springs (some have 76, some 88), but not sure what amounts to "better springs"? Does anyone have any other advice on which make is better?

we got an 8ft one complete with enclosure and ladders for 90 quid brand new, cant remember the make but its pretty solid, being an ex trampoliner I looked into quite a bit
Kids love it, me im too old and get knackered very quickly on it LOL, havent tried somersaults yet, but 8ft is a bit small for that

A good friend of mine broke his neck surfing last year - he spent 6 months in Southport spinal unit. The ammount of kids who had broken their necks on these things was unreal!! I honestly cant believe they still sell these things! safety net or not, it doesnt stop kids from breaking their necks!

In all the years I did trampolining, not one person had any serious injuries, and the kids havent either as they are supervised correctly
Im guessing the majority of accidents on home trampolines are because there is no supervision, people trying somersaults, or drunk parents in the summer parties

Lad from school got a spring through the eye. picture was in Bizarre as it was indeed Bizarre, also make sure its supervised as you are liable to being sued by other parents kids if they get injured, which they do, I know a doctor who says he would ban them based on the amount of injuries.
So just get the safest you can.

Yeah, if the kids are small a safety net is a must. We bought ours from Toys R Us and have had it for over 4 yrs. My kids who are now 12 and 14 still use it regularly (summer only) I take it apart and store it in the shed during the winter months. It hasn't been without incident though, my daughter originally had it for her 8th birthday and on the day we got it she landed funny and broke her ankle, then spent the next four weeks in plaster.

Don't know if this applies to the big ones but we had a smallish one which we kept on the lawn. The ground was soft and the feet slowly sank into the earth. When I went to put it in the shed for winter all six rubber feet were neatly buried in the ground. Still there I suppose

B&Q 12ft trampo & enclosure
all i did was apply grease to the springs where they contacted & rubbed against the frame,
No noise from the springs
Dont buy a cover!!!
they collect water, and then become near on impossible to remove
you end up with a depressed pond

I got a cover, what a complete waste, it has a whole in the middle
also they are impractical to put on properly when you have the enclosure, thats a good idea for grease on the springs though, might give that a go

Dont get one ,,,,,,,i bought a 14ft one last summer for about £400,,,,,two months later it blew into next doors garden taking the whole fence with it. Trampoline and fence completely fooked(that cost me a few quid). It even had large concrete blocks holding it down

A child who goes to the same infants as mine broke her back on a trampoline, don't know if it was a garden play thing or if she did it under practise at a gymnasium, either way keep your eye on them/her/him.

He should have tried a trampoline instead.
Get a round one and don't bother with the net. We have had a 14 ft TP one for about 5 years, and thanks to the dynamics of a round trampoline, only drunk people have ever been injured (Watch this....... )
p.s. - ban everything that comes after 'Watch This" - It will hurt

I bought mine from: 123 Trampolines UK | Trampolines For Sale, Free UK Delivery | Plum Products Trampolines | Beny Sports V-Fit Trampolines | Jump For Fun Trampolines | JumpKing Trampolines | Bazoongi Trampolines | JumpPOD Trampoline | Jump POD Trampoline
And from a thread a LONG time ago, this is what happened to my daughter (although nothing has happened since).

I bought the cheapest 14' trampoline I could find on ebay - over five years later its still going strong. I've had to replace the padding that covers the springs a couple of times.
Make sure you buy a safety net, irrespective of who'll be using it.

when we had one the kids grew bored of it after about 6 months, then we moved house. the missus said, " ooh the garden at the new place is much better for the trampoline" at which i responded with a lack of understanding explaining that if the kids dont use it anymore then why give us the ball ache of dismantling- transporting- and reassembling it again. she seemed to think that the trampoline fairies would come in the middle of the night and rekindle our kids passion for an old toy/ passtime. the netting now makes a fantastic breathable lining for our rockery in the front garden and the kids have not even noticed its missing. the frame is sill in the shed going rusty. imo great in the summer for a while, but a pain in the **** in the long run.

No better than junk mail and if anything makes me less likely to buy anything you might have to sell.
I'd rather use a company that has a decent moral compass thanks.
