We fly over (barsteward Flybe ), hire a car and stay in Douglas (Hutchinson Square). We used to drive over and get the ferry, but you lose 2 days hols doing that, plus the local's driving is so bad we don't like bringing the Scoobys.

what you tryin to say?
I have to agree with you though, the standard of driving over here is terrible, but 9 times out of 10 it is an old biddy
TBH its the bloomin foreigners you have to watch out for, they come over get drunk, jump on/in their bikes/cars and forget which side of the feckin road they are s'posed to be on
pop into the Duke shop somtime and say hi

And it isn't just the old biddies! (you're exempt because you weren't born there )
We once watched a bloke in a Manx Telecom van trying to park outside where we stay. He got in by ricochet-ing off 2 cars several times, couldn't manage it, then got out in huff!
Manx ice cream is the best ever, btw

We go to Davisons in Peel! We used to go in the little one on the corner. The Harbour Cafe makes the best pot of tea in the whole wide world!
Ooh, ooh, just remembered.........a couple came in the shop where I work the other day, and it turns out he waves the chequered flag at the TT.......got a beard.....

I'd love to go to the Manx...........probably a bit warmer by then!
Is that an Arial Arrow 2 stroke with leading link forks? Completely enclosed chain and a pressed steel body............is it a 250 or 350 cc?

not sure about it being warmer at the Manx, the last 2 years it has been cracking flags during TT race week, I got burned both years
the Manx GP strikes me to be more about the racing rather than a festival and getting pi$$ed, totally different fan base and atmosphere

I do fancy the Manx..........I think that since the TT has been more 'organised' it's lost a lot of the atmosphere. It was better before they used to block off the prom at Douglas. I'll never forget one year, when a couple of blokes took all their kit off, rode along the front and then had to stop right next to us when the traffic lights turned red. There was a gang of girls on a night out waiting to cross...........well, you can imagine!
Oh, and I hate the fair being on the front..........it's full of chavs! Much better when it was at Nobles park, out of the way.

lets hope this years weather is the same, we have had amazing weather for pretty much the last 3-4 weeks but today it started raining and has not stopped, first practice is sposed to be on saturday
not sure it is the organisation that has caused it to lose atmophere, something had to be done though as more and more people come every year and the health & safety busy bodies have alot to do with it all now too
I think the last couple of years have been a bit up tight with the build up to the centenary and then the event itself but hopefully this year will be a bit more laid back, as the Manx people do best
know what you mean about the fair, we call them scallies over here and they are a pain in the *** with their scooters at the best of times but during TT when the fair is there and they all get pi$$ed they are even more annoying and they are the ones that get arrested, cant remember the last time a visitor got arrested during TT
