What is the difference between 1080i and 1080p?

1080i = 1 thousand and eighty displayed lines when every other line is displayed on each pass.
i.e. pass 1 updates lines 1,3,5,7,9, etc pass 2 updates lines 2,4,6,8,10 etc

1080p = same number of lines but ALL the lines are updated in a single pass

1080p gives a more 'natural' look to the image but you are hard pushed to see it

you won't need a 1080P tv for sky HD...
