The player can be modified, but not via the remote. It involves soldering and installation of new chips which you should not undertake unless you know what you are doing.
Add on to that the fact that there is a further mod for RCE and things could get tricky.

Techtronics http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/5...vd-player.html will do it for you, or if you feel confident enough they also sell a DIY mod kit.
